This past month has been filled with lots of fun around here! We took our first family of four stay-cation and had a blast and Randy and I celebrated 5 years of marriage.
We began our stay-cation with a brief stay in Half Moon Bay to let the dogs play with their dog friends while we continued on to Santa Cruz and Monterey. We spent an appropriate 3 hours at Santa Cruz. Nevermind the hour and half it took to find a parking spot. We enjoyed a couple rides, people watching and of course junk food! D got his first taste of a churro and of course loved it! Ryan took in the sights from his stroller and the ergo. On Sunday we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and it's safe to say that D had the best time of his life. Ever. The kid went solid for nearly 8 hours with only a couple tantrums sprinkled in which we expected since he also didn't have a nap. I don't have the words (probably due to sleep deprivation) to express how much fun that kid had. He found nemo, played in water, jumped, ran, crawled in tunnels, said hi to to the turtles and fish, hugged random kids and got scared of jellyfish. He went full speed ahead until after 10pm when we practically forced him to lay still.
Speaking of which, the kid and his newfound love for playing on a bed. Jumping, making forts and burrying himself under pillows. Hilarious and exhausting. More for us than him apparently.
Back to the time in Monterey. The day after the aquarium we headed to a children's museum for a couple of hours where he ran and played which seemed to burn off enough energy for a nap in the car back to HMB.
The rest of the week included a trip to Sonoma Train town, a Giants baseball game and D's first trip on the Tumble Time Bus. The peak of the week for him was definitely the museum and it took him some time to enjoy the other events but he warmed up and had a blast.
R did great during all of the fun. He slept and ate well and seemed to enjoy taking in all the scenery.
Spending that week as a family was something I will never forget. I have the most amazing husband and to watch him as a father is even more amazing. It's easy to see how much he adores his boys and he and D really bonded even more that week. I think D's language just exploded that week. He started repeating everything and seemed to be remembering things that had happened the previous day which was new.
Pictures to come later.
