It has been a crazy but fun couple of months. We celebrated our holidays for the first time as a family of four, had a visit from Gram, had fun playdates and too much vomit.
Our Thanksgiving plans drastically changed after Daniel spent the day before throwing up. Randy went out the night before and bought all the fixings so we could have Thanksgiving at our house, just the four of us. Randy cooked the entire meal (delicious!)and we just hung out at home. Daniel felt better and had the opportunity to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner but thought throwing tantrums was more fun. He did eat a little bit but wasn't happy about it! Ryan on the other hand tried and loved turkey for the first time! Luckily no one else got whatever Daniel had, so that was a relief.
We got our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving, our biggest tree ever! It was fun decorating it and putting up decorations around our new house. Daniel chose a motorcycle for his ornament this year. He of course wanted to use it as a toy more than just look at it.
We also took a trip out to Dellosso Family Farms. The boys begrudgingly sat on Santa's lap so we could get a picture. Daniel still not a fan of Santa even though we practiced telling Santa what he wanted (Thomas, Mater, McQueen). We also saw reindeers and other animals at the petting zoo there. The big hit was the train of course. Both boys loved the train and looking at all the lights.
A few days before Gram came into town, Daniel decided to throw up again. And then two days after Gram was here, she decided to throw up. Ick. Gram stayed behind to get better while the rest of us piled into the car and went to Half Moon Bay to celebrate Christmas with the uncle and the aunt. Daniel enjoyed running around and going for a long walk to the beach.
Our Christmas festivities begin Christmas eve at Drakes where the cousins get to run around, eat too much sugar, open gifts and then crash. We did the annual white elephant gift exchange the kids got to open little gifts as well. Poor Ryan was not a happy camper though. Not sure if he was just overstimulated or what, but he did not want mama to leave his side.
When we got home, we helped Daniel put the cookies out for Santa along with his old Mater that broke. We helped him write a letter to Santa to see if he could fix his Mater's "tail". Daniel is obsessed with "necting" (connecting) Mater to anything he can. Then we read stories and talked about how Santa was going to come tonight and what we would be doing the next day.
Christmas Day was a blast. Daniel was super excited that Santa fixed his Mater and brought him some new toys. Ryan was excited to play with paper :) Some of the highlights were a McQueen power wheels, cranky the crane and new Cars. After presents at home we drove to Grandpa's house for a quick visit. Grandpa was so excited and happy to see the boys (and us too, I guess). Then off to the Ludwig's to hang out the rest of the day. We enjoyed the usual egg's benedict and watching the kids open their gifts and playing with new toys.
All in all it was such a wonderful time for us as we celebrated for the first time as a family of four. So excited to watch Daniel enjoy the season and that he has the ability to remember and know what happens next makes it all the more fun. Makes us excited to watch as Ryan gets older and can understand as well.
