happy birthday Ryan!
My sweet baby boy turned one on March 12! He is such a joy and really has brought so much love to our family. This past year has gone so quickly. It is amazing to see how this tiny little 8 pound blob of cuteness has transformed into a 23 pound curious and full of life near toddler. Even though he is our second child, every "first" was just as and continues to be as exciting. I love watching him develop and do new things and to see how his physical features change. He definitely favors daddy but also looks so similar to his brother, who favors me. He has a smile that lights up a room and has such a laid back, easy temperament. We always know when something is really wrong, because that is when he cries. Oh or if I walk out of the room, he is just crushed. Definitely a mama's boy right now.
His birthday party was perfection. Our family and close friends came over to celebrate and Ry enjoyed himself and had a great time. He smiled a lot and didn't get overwhelmed by all the fun. He did poop out pretty early and was ready for bed toward the end of the party. He was not too excited but also didn't hate his birthday cake. He at a little bit and then was done. Not too messy either.
He got lots of great toys but his current favorite toy is a bin full of balls, so the toys that came with the balls were winners. This kid will just sit with a bin of balls and throw them one or two at a time, across the room. He plays catch pretty good too. I am impressed :)
On to development now. He started crawling at 10.5 months and hasn't stopped since. He can pull himself up to his feet using low surfaces. He loves to pull on the bars on the baby gates. He also loves music and does quite a cute little dance. He claps his hands, waves and puts his arms in the air to say "so big" or "touchdown". As mentioned before, he loves playing with balls; all sizes now. No fear of the big balls anymore. He gets so excited to watch them bouncing. He continues to be a great eater and usually eats (in surprisingly large quantities) anything I put down for him. He still wakes 1-2 times per night. He does pretty good with a sippy cup and my camelbak water bottle. His teachers always comment on what an easy, content baby he is. He is the only one that lays still during diaper changes and doesn't throw a fit when another kid takes a toy from him.
It has been a year filled with difficulty, exhaustion, joy, excitement and love. This parenting thing is not easy, but oh so rewarding and I can't wait to see what the next year holds!
