D turns 3!
We recently celebrated Daniel's 3rd birthday. Weeks before the big day he kept wanting his birthday party to be "today". Promptly followed by a fit when in fact it wasn't "today". Then the big day arrives and he throws a fit because he wants to go to his friend Katy's birthday party, not his. So that's the story we went with :)
We started his day with breakfast at "The Bagel Store". As requested by the birthday boy, a McQueen themed bash at The Little Gym filled with lots of friends and family. D and his friends had a blast running a muck and eating cake. Then we came back to the house to open presents and to discover the amazing train table hand made with love by daddy. He of course got more presents than he knew what to do with. Some of his favorites are of course some Thomas the Trains, new train tracks and puzzles. He stayed up late playing trains with daddy, who I think had just as much fun if not more, making new train tracks.
Daniel has really developed into such a funny, kind and charismatic little boy. No longer a toddler I guess, but now a preschooler. He shows signs of asserting more and more independence everyday. While he still is very easily frustrated, he is growing more and more determined to complete tasks like putting his shoes on, undressing and climbing into his carseat by himself. Also, the day before his birthday, he came into our room in the morning sans diaper and declared he wanted to wear big boy underwear. The first few days he had a few accidents and since then he has done very well. So yay for no more diapers (except pull ups at sleep times)!
Daniel, it sounds so very cliche but you have brought so much joy to our lives. There is nothing like the highs of seeing you smile, hearing you laugh (especially deep belly laughs) and feeling those arms around us for big hugs. Also of most adorableness is when you kiss our owies and mommy's itchy eyes (to make the itchies go away). And as if that isn't enough, you make the best big brother. Watching your kindness towards Ryan, soothing him when he cries (you know, for the half second mommy walks out of the room). Your face lights up when you see him as does his. We can't wait to see what the next year holds for you!
And now, the photo bomb:
