28 and 5 months

Time is just flying by! Danny has been more hilarious and more, um, spirited than ever lately. His vocabulary continues to grow on a daily basis along with the attitude behind it. He is very directive in his play, telling us "stop talking mommy" and "daddy want chesco" (Francesco from the movie Cars2). He is still completely obsessed with anything with wheels; trains, cars, trucks, and tractors. He even can identify specific kinds of tractors. As we are driving he will point out "cement truck right there".

We recently took a trip to Barnes and Noble, now forever known as "the train store" and Petsmart, now known as "the fish store". There is a train table in the children's section of Barnes & Noble and he can play there for hours. Before we arrive he makes sure to recite the rules of "it's everybody's trains" and "share" while nodding his head. He is also obsessed with going to the fish store and of course when he sees the fish he says "that's nemo right there".

Other funnies. When we go by the fire station or just when he sees a fire truck he wants to "ride it". When he lays down by his brother he says "calm" but then of course acts the opposite of that. He is very specific in how we are allowed to play cars..don't roll them too fast "no mommy, no fast". When we go to the park, he is more interested in looking for rolly pollys, ladybugs, sticks and rocks than playing on the play structure. "Hop it Daddy" (Stop it). He loves to "play on bed" and say "I jump on bed" as he does said activity. He gets the biggest kick out of running into our bedroom and slamming the door. Whenever he gets a stick or other light saber-ish object he says "wooo wooo" as he spins in a circle pointing the stick. He loves eating "faffles" or "eggtoast" for breakfast.

Ryan is also growing by leaps and bounds. He is now wearing mostly 6 and 9 month clothes, but is also wearing some 12 month stuff too. In the past few weeks he started laughing when we tickle him. His talking progressed from cooing like a dove to shrieking and screaming. He can sit up in daddy's lap and look at him but isn't sitting on his own yet. He still loves tummy time and can spend an hour there sometimes. He pivots and rolls and can push himself up onto straight arms. When he is on his back he likes to spin around and has rolled to his tummy from his back a couple of times.

He continues to have a ferocious appetite and is known to still eat every 2 hours even at night. He does typically do at least a 4-5 hour stretch, sometimes 6 and then it's a crap shoot. Despite a pretty consistent daytime and bedtime routine, his nights are still random. He is down to 3 naps per day unless he randomly takes a short afternoon nap, then he will take a fourth nap.

I returned to work last Thursday which was of course tough. Randy is staying home for a week or so to help transition Ryan into daycare part time and then both boys will start full time next week.
