bittersweet beginnings

Today D started preschool! He remains at the same daycare center, but he officially started in the preschool class today which means he isn't in the "twos" anymore which of course means he is getting big! I am so excited to see all the new things he is going to learn and to continue to watch him develop but of course this change is, like many of the changes with our kids, is bittersweet. It means I don't have a terrific two year old anymore. He isn't this cute little pudgy word learning toddler. He is a preschooler who is walking and talking his way into boyhood! I cherish all of the memories of him as such a little guy and will miss (most) of the toddler era but at the same time look forward to being part of all the things that will shape him into a child and adult.
